Turkish cultural heritage sites hit hard by quakes

https://ift.tt/rveX1b8 From 40 to 50% of historic sites in Turkey’s Hatay province are currently estimated by UNESCO to have been destroyed by the earthquakes, but it is feared that the actual losses in terms of heritage could be higher. The most significant losses in Turkey are in the Diyarbakir region, such as at Diyarbakir Castle, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Damage at these sites is currently being assessed in view of eventual restoration, for some. FRANCE 24's Thameen al Kheetan reports from Gaziantep.
